Pomaikai means “good fortune” in Hawaiian. That’s exactly what you experience at Pomaikai Ballrooms, starting with Waikiki caliber service without the high Waikiki price tag. Our spacious facilities offer two versatile event spaces totaling 25,000 sq.ft. and equipped with WIFI capabilities and elegant decor. Our on-site event catering team headed by acclaimed Chefs serves both plated and buffet services that bring to life authentic local flavors.
With a convenient central location in Honolulu, Pomaikai Ballrooms is the go-to venue for a wide range of social events of all kinds—from corporate and charitable events, weddings and receptions, and even Project Graduation events for high school seniors.

Pomaikai Ballrooms offers parking for up to 1,200 vehicles. Parking validation costs $6.00 per car. Hosted and valet parking options are also available (see our Policies for details). The entrance to the parking building is on Pacific Street. Take the ramp into the building (same as for the Dole Cannery theaters) and the ballrooms are on the 2nd floor.

The word is out. Pomaikai Ballrooms was named Best Place to Host a Party in the Honolulu Star Advertiser’s 2019 Hawaii’s Best Awards. The award is particularly gratifying because it’s a People’s Choice award, which includes the votes of many people who have hosted or attended parties at Pomaikai.
How do we reserve a date and ballroom?
To reserve a ballroom, we require a signed copy of the catering contract for your event as well as a deposit.
Is a deposit required to hold a date and ballroom?
We are happy to provide a courtesy ten-day hold on a space without a deposit fee. From the start date, you have ten business days to decide if you would like to move forward with the hold.
How much is the deposit?
For events with 200 guests or fewer, the deposit fee is $1,000. For gatherings with 201—400 guests, a $1,500 deposit is required. And for events with over 400 persons, the deposit is $2,000.
What if we must cancel our reservation?
Unfortunately, once the catering contract is signed the deposit is non-refundable. However, we understand that unexpected circumstances do occur and we will work with you to find the best solution.
When is payment due?
Full payment for an event is usually due ten business days prior to the event date. Any additional charges incurred during the function will be charged at the end of the event.
Where is Pomaikai Ballrooms located?
We are located at Dole Cannery, right above Regal Theaters on Iwilei Road. Take the ramp into the parking structure and the ballrooms are on the 2nd floor.
Where do we park to unload?
A loading zone is located in front of our freight elevator for guests picking up or dropping off event equipment and supplies. It is to the left of the ramp leading into the parking structure.
Can we bring in outside food?
Our chefs offer a wide range of delectable menus. However, guests may bring in specialty foods/appetizers or desserts for a fee of $250 + service charge + tax per every three dishes.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
Yes! Our corkage fees are as follows:
- Beer (case of 24 cans/bottles or fewer): $35 + service charge + tax per case
- Beer Kegs: $500 + service charge + tax per keg
- Soft Drinks (case of 24 cans/bottles or fewer): $25 + service charge + tax per case
- Wine/Champagne (750 ml): $20 + service charge + tax per bottle
How much does it cost to rent a ballroom?
The cost is determined by guest count, weekday or weekend, lunch or dinner, time frame, and other factors. Please contact our catering sales team for an estimated cost for your event.
